新光黃埔：首創戲院營運新格局 | Sunbeam Whampoa: Pioneering a New Model for Cinema Operations

新光黃埔影藝城於2025年8月16日隆重開幕，延續新光戲院文化傳承精神，更蛻變為一個融合電影、演唱會、粵劇及展覽於一身的文化及娛樂新地標。當日多名電影及演藝界名人作嘉賓，全院擠滿粉絲及觀眾，場面非常熱鬧。

在新光黃埔除可觀賞首輪電影外，更是首間獲批准舉辦演唱會的戲院。「在打造新光黃埔時，我思考如何為香港人重建到戲院觀賞電影的激情，同時將戲院空間擴展至其他表演用途。我們是首間申請新經營方式的戲院，並已獲政府批准可建立舞台，於戲院內打造一個綜藝小紅館，舉辦演唱會，讓歌手能近距離向樂迷獻唱。」李居明大師直言，這次銳意突破框架，為香港本土文化及娛樂事業開創全新格局。

Sunbeam Whampoa Cineplex celebrated its grand opening on 16 August 2025, embodying the spirit of cultural heritage passed down from the original Sunbeam Theatre while transforming into a new landmark for culture and entertainment—blending cinema, concerts, Cantonese opera and exhibitions all under one roof. The event was attended by numerous celebrities from the film and performing arts industries, with the venue filled with enthusiastic fans and audiences, creating a vibrant and lively atmosphere.

In addition to showing first-run films, Sunbeam Whampoa is the first cinema in Hong Kong to be granted approval to host concerts. “While creating Sunbeam Whampoa, I reflected on how to reignite Hongkongers’ passion for cinema-going, whilst also expanding the theatre space to cater for other types of performances. We are the first cinema to apply for this new business model and have received the Government approval to build a stage, effectively creating a ‘mini Hong Kong Coliseum’ within the cinema—a versatile venue for concerts where singers can perform at close range to their fans,” said Master Edward Li Kui Ming. He emphasised that this bold move breaks new ground, opening up innovative possibilities for Hong Kong’s local culture and entertainment scene.
